Makana Wellness will no longer be accepting new patients beginning June 1, 2026, as Melissa prepares to pause clinical practice later this year.

Current clients may continue scheduling follow-up appointments through October 1, 2026. Please keep this timeline in mind when scheduling ongoing care and follow-up support needs.

Thank you for trusting me with your babies, feeding journeys, and bodywork care. From my early years volunteering as a La Leche League Leader to opening my private practice in 2013, it has been such an honor to support families through lactation and infant feeding care over the last 20 years!

PLEASE READ the following carefully before booking, then SCROLL DOWN a little for available consult times…

  • All consults are in my office located at 1010 Jorie Blvd., Suite 243, Oak Brook, IL 60523 or virtual. Follow-ups and Infant Bodywork appointments are 60mins.

  • Insurance: Please see information below

  • 24hr Cancelation Policy: Life happens, I completely understand, BUT please reschedule or cancel your appointment within 24hrs of your booked appointment otherwise you will be charged a $100 cancellation fee. A credit card is required to be on file during booking.

Insurance/payment

  • AETNA: Insurance info will be collected when you fill out my intake forms. DO NOT fill out the Lactation Network form as they do not take Aetna plans. Please be sure to call AETNA to verify you do not need a doctor referral or authorization number to cover our consult. Even though Aetna may say you are covered 100% for 6 visits, it is possible that some Aetna plans may assign you a “Patient Responsibility” fee which will be charged to the card you will put on file at the time of booking.

  • UNITED HEALTHCARE: Insurance info will be collected when you fill out my intake forms. DO NOT fill out the Lactation Network form. Be sure to call United to verify you are covered for lactation consultations. UNTED does not cover telehealth/virtual consults - that will be considered self pay.

  • CIGNA/WILDFLOWER: Consults are FREE if covered through Wildflower. If you have CIGNA, you can go ahead and fill out this FORM to see if Wildflower can approve taking your insurance.

  • Self-pay clients: if you do not have the above plans or have an HMO plan (unless you have AETNA HMO) the consult will be self-pay, collected at the end of our consult and I’ll provide you with a Superbill receipt. Lactation: Initial is $190, Follow-ups are $175. Infant Bodywork/CST: Initial is $80, Follow-ups are $60 Massage Therapy: 60-minute Massage: $120, 75-minute Massage: $135, 90-minute Massage: $155

  • Virtual Consults: Payment is required at booking for all virtual consults unless covered through Lactation Network, CIGNA or AETNA. Many situations can be supported through Virtual consults! Depending on your situation, I might suggest an in-person appointment since some situations are better supported in-person.
